Guide to Grambling State University’s Homecoming Weekend

There is no more anticipated week of the year at Grambling State University than Homecoming Week. It’s a special time when students, alumni, and fans from all over the country come together to celebrate their alma mater and cheer on the Tigers.

As we celebrate this year’s Homecoming theme: "Pursuing Excellence, Celebrating Legacy," Grambling’s 2024 Homecoming has no shortage of activities and traditions to take part in. Here’s a look at how to get the most out of Grambling’s Homecoming festivities this year.

Pre-Game

Homecoming Week Events

Grambling kicks off the Homecoming celebrations on Sunday, October 13 with their Homecoming Gospel Concert in T.H. Harris Auditorium at 6pm, featuring Ricky Dillard. Experience the uplifting sounds of the Grambling State University Choir and other special performances throughout the night. On Friday, October 18, start the day off on the putting green at the Fred D. Hearn Memorial Scholarship Golf Classic at Trail’s End, then get in the Gram Fam spirit at the Homecoming Pep Rally at 1pm on Main Street. Next, keep the festivities going by attending Homecoming Step Show at 6pm and the Glow with Gram Alumni party at 9pm.

Alumni will want to register for several weekend events including the Alumni Welcome Kickback, Glow with Gram Alumni Party, and Beyond Breakfast GramFam Gathering . More info and registration for the events can be found here.

Where to Stay

Any of Ruston’s area hotels are the logical choice, all being located within 15 minutes of the stadium. Rooms book up quick on Homecoming Weekend, so be sure to call as early as possible to book your stay. If you want to add a little adventure to your game day experience, rent a camping or RV site at the beautiful Lincoln Parish Park.

Game Day

What to Wear
You’ll want to be sure to rep your Gram Fam pride with black and gold attire on game day. Grambling gear can be found at several local businesses including The Collegiate Shoppe, QualiTees, Realitees, and Barnes & Noble at Grambling State.

Parking
In addition to reserved tailgating spaces, there is plenty of on-campus parking for visitors and fans. General admission parking is available at Carver Hall, Charles P. Adams, and the Digital Library backlot at a rate of $25 per vehicle. Limited mobility and handicapped parking is available on Doug Williams Drive for $25, with a state-issued handicapped tag required for entry. Spaces are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tailgating
Grambling’s Homecoming tailgate never disappoints, with fans set up in tents and RVs all around the Eddie G. Robinson Stadium. Reserved tailgating spots are already full, but fans are encouraged to come out early to enjoy food, music, activities, and celebrate the Tigers, starting with the Homecoming Parade at 9am on Main Street.

Game Time
The G-Men will be taking on University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 2pm on October 19 in the Hole. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time online here. On-site tickets can be purchased at the ticket office at the Hobdy Center. As a reminder, Grambling State Athletics has a clear bag policy in effect.

Post-Game

Following the game, head to Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center a post-game R&B Concert to celebrate the victory we know the Tigers are going to secure. Then head on over to Beyond Breakfast: The GramFam Gathering at McCall Dining Hall.
