The parish was named after President Abraham Lincoln and was created from pieces of Bienville, Claiborne, Union, and Jackson parishes. Ruston, the Parish seat, was founded in 1883 by Robert E. Russ, for whom the town was named. Lincoln Parish is also home to Choudrant, Dubach, Grambling, Simsboro, and Vienna, all of which bring unique offerings and culture to the Parish as a whole.
Ruston’s revitalized downtown is a designated historic, main street, and cultural district, earning national attention for its charm and vitality. The district features several Ruston landmarks, public art installations, annual cultural events, area attractions, as well as a variety of specialty shops and local eateries.
