CVB has partnered with Union Parish and the Louisiana Office of Tourism to bring the championship fishing tournament to Lake D’Arbonne, with multiple events in Ruston and Farmerville.
The tournament will consist of 100 two-person teams from all over the country, staying in the area for several days as they practice and compete. The tournament takes the top 100 qualifying teams from the season to compete on Lake D’Arbonne. Over three days of competing, the qualifiers will be cut to the top 50 for day-two competing, and to the top 25 for the third and final-day competing.
The fishermen will have a registration banquet at the Ruston Civic Center on Wednesday, Mar. 27 at 6:30 p.m. A media day Wednesday, Mar. 27 and two weigh-ins Thursday and Friday, Mar. 28-29 will be held at D’Arbonne Pointe in Farmerville. The final championship weigh-in will be held in Railroad Park in Ruston Saturday, Mar. 30 followed by an awards banquet at the Ruston Civic Center at 7:30 p.m. to announce all winners.
Winners of the tournament take home a Ranger boat valued at $40,000. One hundred percent of the entry fees are also paid out, making the total tournament payouts to over $100,000. The value of prizes, ACT’s focus on conservation, the showcase of outdoor and fishing opportunities in North Louisiana, and media exposure of the event make this tournament highly beneficial for the area.
The public is invited to attend the drive-through weigh-in at Railroad Park, Saturday, Mar. 30 at 4 p.m. For more information. visit www.americancrappietrail.com or call the CVB at (318) 255-2031.
