Ruston & Lincoln Parish is full of historical locations and stories that higlight the culture, heritage, and achievements of African Americans. Here is a look at the many experiences you can take part in to celebrate Black History Month this year in Lincoln Parish.
The Lincoln Parish Library is hosting an art exhibit in honor of Black History Month. The show features artwork from Grambling State University students and professors. The gallery is open through the entire month of February so make sure you go check it out!
The Lincoln Parish Library is also having a special reading challenge for the month. The challenge includes reading 5 fiction or nonfiction books about African American history and lives.
This is a lecture and interactive Q&A hosted by the Lincoln Parish Library. Dr. Michael Ramon Hicks will speak about the importance of the influence of African American artists. The event will be held on February 29th at 6:00pm.

The stories that can be found about the history of African Americans are vital to the heritage trail. You can contribute to this project by submitting recommendations for landmarks that you know of which can be added to promote the history that we have in Lincoln Parish. Eddie G. Robinson, former Grambling State University football coach, was the embodiment of excellence on and off the field. The late coach led countless football players to greatnedd in their academics and in personal development. Robinson's impactful life and legacy are on display, along with interactive components so that you can truly immerse yourself into the experience. The museum is located on the Grambling State campus and is open Tuesday-Saturday from 9am-4pm.
Anna Graney is originally from a small town in Oklahoma and she moved to Ruston to attend Louisiana Tech University. In her free time, she enjoys going to coffee shops with friends or traveling to new places. As Digital Marketing Coordinator, Anna supports the Director of Marketing and Communications in managing digital assets, online promotion of Ruston/Lincoln Parish, and attending events in the area to gather and develop content.
